Alice-Murray-Obit-webCONCORD, N.H. — Alice R. (Gonnam) Murray, 94, of Concord, N.H and formerly of North Reading, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015 at Havenwood-Heritage Heights Retirement Community in Concord, N.H. She was the beloved wife of the late Alexander J. Murray Sr.

Born in Winchester on Jan. 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Elizabeth P. (Higgins) Gonnam. Alice was a graduate of Reading High School and attended the Union Congregational Church in North Reading.

Alice was a seamstress, a sewing instructor and a homemaker. She was a very special person. She would do anything to help anyone anytime. She had the talent and the drive to do anything she wanted to do.

She was very proficient at tooling leather for belts and women’s hand bags, making of all types of silver jewelry, painting with oil and water colors. Alice was a long–time member and past president of the “Reading Society of Craftsman.”

Family members include her loving sons, Alexander J. Murray Jr. and his wife Geraldine of East Kingston, N.H. and Ronald A. Murray and his wife Marion of North Sutton, N.H.; her brother Carl Gonnam and his late wife Theresa of North Reading; sisters Lucile Parker and her husband Robert of Auburn, Maine and the late Barbara Fellows and her late husband Richard of Enfield, N.H.; five grandchildren, Daniel A. Murray and his wife Sonja, Amy C. Flynn and her husband Terry, Ronald Murray and his wife Penny, Miranda Matthews and her husband Scott and Shane Murray; four great–grandchildren, Andrew and Alyssa Flynn, Lana and Julia Mae Murray.
