READING — The Andover/North Reading co-op gymnastics team improved to 3-2 recently with victories over Tewksbury and Dracut.
The Warrior-Hornets topped Tewksbury, 138.4-122.1 on Dec. 27 at the Reading Gymnastics Academy.
North Reading was well-represented, especially on the beam and the floor where two NRHS gymnasts went 1-2.
Kelsie Berry was 1st overall on beam with a 9.1. Alexis Ciavardone took 2nd with a 9.0.
Ciavardone then took 1st overall on floor with a 9.2 and Berry was 2nd with an 8.9.
Berry also took 2nd on bars with an 8.5. North Reading’s Chloe DeAngelis was 3rd with an 8.3.
Breaelynn Eng of NRHS finished 3rd overall on vault with an 8.5.
The Warrior-Hornets followed that up with a strong, 140.15-109.6 win over Dracut on Dec. 29 back at the Reading Gymnastics Academy.
All four events were won by a gymnast from North Reading.
Berry took 1st on vault with a 9.4. DeAngelis followed up with a 3rd (8.7).
On bars, Alex Lee was 1st with an 8.8. Berry took 2nd (8.6) and DeAngelis 3rd (8.1).
Lee took 1st on beam as well with a 9.0. Berry was 2nd with an 8.85.
Ciavardone was 1st on floor with an 8.9. Berry concluded her terrific day with a 2nd place on floor (8.85). Berry had the top overall all-around score of the meet (35.7).
“Kelsie Berry led the way for us today with her all-around debut,” said head coach Marlena Bresnick.
Andover/North Reading will hope to make it 4-1 when they travel to Legends Gymnastics in North Andover on Jan. 5 at 4 p.m. to take on the Scarlet Knights.
