Began Wakefield company with husband

LYNNFIELD — Ann Marie Urkiewicz, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at North Shore Medical Center/Salem Hospital in Salem. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family.

She was born to the late Nicholas Paul Saccocia and Rose N. (DeLoia) Saccocia on December 6, 1934 in East Bridgewater.

Ann was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1953. She married Anthony E. Urkiewicz, of Bridgewater, on June 12, 1954, in West Bridgewater. Thereafter they relocated and raised their children in Lynnfield, and together started Cardiovascular Instruments Corp. in Wakefield.

Family was Ann’s love and joy. As the beloved matriarch, she took pride in her family and knew the importance of keeping family close and sticking together. She also had an adventurous side and loved traveling abroad, especially her trips to Italy, family vacations to Hampton Beach, trips to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, and spending as much precious time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as possible.

Also, in earlier years, Ann proudly served as director of the Catholic Youth Organization at St. Maria Goretti Parish and had also volunteered with the Home For Little Wanderers.

She also enjoyed her time spent with her bowling league friends at the Wakefield Bowladrome. Ann had a natural and loving ability to reach people in a deep and positive way and was full of grace, beauty, friendship and generosity.

Ann is survived by her husband, Anthony E. Urkiewicz; a daughter, Ann M. Hinds; and two sons, Edward A. Urkiewicz Jr. and Mark E. Urkiewicz. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jaime Hubbard, Julie Purington, Kristen McKinley, James Prince, Shannon Hinds and Arianna Hinds, and great-grandchildren, Jake and Laila Hubbard, Brayden Purington, Emmeline Prince and Colton McKinley. She also leaves behind many more loving family members and relatives.

The family wishes to thank all of those who showed their love and care for her through her time of ailment.

A memorial in Ann’s honor will be held at a later date for family, friends and others whose lives Ann touched, to reminisce, grieve and support each other.
