Lifelong resident was MWH nurse’s aide

 

MELROSE — Anna May “Robbie” (Sullivan) Robinson, 88, passed away at Woburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Woburn on Sept. 29 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Melrose on Aug. 2, 1926 to the late Coleman and Delia (Philbin) Sullivan. Anna was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary Grammar and from Melrose High School.

She was the youngest child with three older brothers James, Thomas and Leo Sullivan.

She met the love of her life William A. Robinson while in high school; they married on Sept. 7, 1947, and raised nine children until his untimely death on Sept. 1, 1973.

Anna was a lifelong resident of Melrose and an active member of St. Mary Church.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 34 years. Anna was a wonderful cook who enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Anna’s main focus in her life was her church and her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Robinson. She was the loving mother of Patrica Mulcahy and her husband Robert of North Andover, Bill Robinson and his wife Diane of Wakefield, Nancy Faulkner and her husband Rod of Stoneham, Kathy Wakefield and her husband Dan of Florida, James Robinson and his wife Gail of Billerica, Bryan Robinson and his wife Patricia of Florida, Paul Robinson and his wife Beth of Watertown, Steven Robinson and his wife Pamela of Wakefield and the late Kevin Robinson. She was the sister of the late James Sullivan and his surviving wife Mary of New Jersey and the late Leo and Marie Sullivan and the late Thomas and Louise Sullivan. She was the grandmother William and Amy Meuse, Janine Brown, William, Michael and Bradford Robinson, Larry Faulkner and his wife Kerry, Nicole Kelleher, Shannon and Douglas Canton, James and Matthew Robinson, Kevin, Joseph and Mitchell Robinson, Patrick, Thomas, Cameron and Celia Robinson and Samantha and Steven Robinson. She was the great-grandmother of Billy, Megan, Jaclynn, Jonathan, Jeffery, Patrick, Paul, Carolyn, Joseph, David, Brenna, Eliana and Daelyn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral was from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Thursday, October 2, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert Street, Melrose, at 11 a.m.

Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
