ObitMcDonald-webESTERO, Fla. — Arthur J. McDonald Jr., 78, of Estero, Fla. and formerly of Wakefield, died Wednesday, July 1 in Reading.

He was born in Cambridge on May 2, 1937 and was the son of the late Arthur J. McDonald and Hildur (Anderson) McDonald. Arthur was raised in Belmont and was a graduate of Belmont High School, Class of 1955 and went on to graduate from Boston College in 1959.

Arthur was a retired owner at Scott & McDonald, Inc. of Boston. He was also the past president of the New England Asthma and Allergy Foundation. He was also a long time summer resident of Madison, Maine and winter resident of Estero, Fla. Arthur was also a past member at Bear Hill Golf Club.

Arthur was the loving husband of Sue W. (Wright) McDonald. He was the loving father of Timothy A. McDonald of Maine, Julie M. Kelly and husband Edward of Lunenburg, and Craig McDonald and wife Prazeres of Reading. He also was the loving grandfather of Hunter and Sydney McDonald. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., on Wednesday, July 8, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
