WAKEFIELD — Police and firefighters were busy over the weekend, handling motor vehicle accidents, vandalism reports, a leaking water line on the 11th floor of the Colonial Point apartment complex and yet another call about youths trespassing on the property of the old Winship estate on the West Side.

In addition, police were notified by a regional 911 service Friday around 11 p.m. that a couple of teenagers may have been having a bad “trip” reaction to some psychedelic mushrooms on Church Street. A 911 dispatcher tried to get more information over the phone but a caller disconnected before he could. Authorities had only the description of someone named “John” who was wearing a black tee shirt in the Church Street area.

One youth was taken to the hospital.

A Winship Drive resident told police Friday just before 3 p.m. that youths had trespassing in her yard while trying to gain entry to the abandoned mansion once know as the Winship estate. The woman said the youths were not there presently but the problem is an ongoing one; items have reportedly been removed from her yard and she had found teens on her deck.

A blue Yamaha minibike was reported stolen from a Main Street home sometime between Thursday, August 6, and Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Somehow a 2006 Toyota 4Runner had its rear window smashed while parked on Armory Street Saturday morning. The other said he parked the car around 10 a.m. and about 40 minutes later came back to find its rear window smashed.

Police said nothing was missing from the vehicle and there was no evidence in the area that would show what had been used to smash the window.

Police continue their investigation.

Around 10:40 p.m. Friday, a group of 15 to 18 youths being loud at the Spaulding Street Playground was sent on its way.

A woman told police Friday around 11:35 p.m. that a man jumped out of some bushes at the intersection of North Avenue and Church Street, scaring her. The woman was taken home by an officer while another searched the area for the man, finding no one..

A Salem Street homeowner agreed to turn down loud music Saturday morning around two past midnight.

A citizen turned in a computer found on a bench somewhere in the vicinity of North Avenue Saturday around 8:40 a.m. Police determined that it was left behind during a medical aid needed sometime overnight. It was returned to the owner.

A child fell off his bicycle on Lowell Street about 11:40 a.m. Saturday. First responders report the youth was okay.

A West Side resident told police around 3:05 p.m. Saturday that she heard what she thought were six gunshots in the area of Albion and Cedar streets. Police said an event in Moulton Park may have been where the noise came from.

Just before 4 p.m. Saturday, two teenaged African-Amercan women allegedly walked into the backyard of a Cedar Street resident’s home soliciting magazines. The homeowner asked the pair to leave, and told police they were heading towards Chestnut Street.

Police responded and advised the two teens of the town’s door-to-door solicitation process.

A client of a group home on the West Side was reported as dehydrated and aggressive at times Saturday around 5:10 p.m. The person was taken to Winchester Hospital.

A man reportedly having a seizure on Princess Street was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Saturday around 6:10 p.m.

Police were unable to locate young women reportedly soliciting magazines door-to-door on Robin Road after being told of the incident Saturday at 6:37 p.m.

Police were told of a suspicious package found near one of the cemeteries on North Avenue Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The package turned out to be grass clippings in a bag.

A citizen flagged down a patrolman on Water Street Saturday at 7:06 p.m. to report a possible drunk woman heading toward Saugus. The suspect was taken home and agreed to stay there for the night.

A group of youths — reported as possibly drunk — were walking in the vicinity of Keeling Road and Lowell Street Sunday around 1:15 a.m., creating a disturbance. Police spoke to the youths and sent them on their way.

A loud party on Hardwick Road drew police attention Sunday around 2:10 a.m.

A cab driver needed police assistance Sunday around 5 a.m. after he was unable to wake his two Wakefield passengers. Both passengers were taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital by Action Ambulance personnel.

The MBTA crossing gates at Prospect Street and North Avenue were reportedly going up and down with no trains in sight around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

A woman walking her dog on Tarrant Lane Sunday sometime before 12:27 p.m. told police her pet was attacked by two white pit bulls. The woman said she exchanged words with the man who was with the pit bulls, and the two people went their separate ways. Police were given the license plate number of the vehicle the pit bull owner drove off in.

Police went to the Honey Dew Donuts on Main Street in Greenwood around 1:20 p.m. Sunday after being told a man had been in a restroom there for a half hour. When police arrived, the man was waiting for a ride.

Police went to the 200 block of Main Street Sunday around 1:30 p.m. after a man said trash continues to be dumped in front of his house, and that the man had captured the suspect’s image on closed circuit television. Police said they spoke with the suspect, who retrieved his improperly discarded items.

A Keeling Road resident reported a vandalized “Kids at Play” sign around 4:20 p.m. Sunday.

A man sleeping in a vehicle parked on Quannapowitt Parkway drew the attention of police Sunday around 7:45 p.m. after they were told the man was possibly intoxicated and his activity described as “creepy” by the caller. He was sent on his way.

Firefighters answered 36 calls beginning Friday morning.

FRIDAY

• Crews went to the corner of Main and Oak streets at 12:30 p.m. after a truck reportedly struck a parked motor vehicle. An absorbent was put down to dry fluid on the ground.

• Firefighters went to Route 128 northbound at exit 41 (Vernon Street and Main Street, Lynnfield) to help those involved in a three vehicle accident. Everyone refused medical treatment.

• At 3:15 p.m., firefighters went to 12 Rockland St. to deal with a problem with the home’s heating system. An official said a steam system may have been overfilled.

• At 4:45 p.m., crews went to 128 northbound at exit 40 (the Route 129 Rotary) after being told of a motor vehicle crash. It was described as very minor, as was one reported at 7:20 p.m. on the Route 129 Rotary.

SATURDAY

• Crews went to 10 Vernon Street to handle a malfunctioning carbon monoxide detector around 12:15 a.m.

• At 7:30 a.m., a leaking water pipe was reported on the 11th floor of the Colonial Point Apartments, 95 Audubon Rd. Firefighters were called back again Sunday night around 8:45

• At 10:40 a.m., a trash truck reported struck a parked car ind the 200 block of North Avenue.

• At 8:15 p.m., firefighters launched the town’s Fire Rescue boat after getting a report of an overturned canoe on Lake Quannapowitt. Two people had capsized, and they were taken to the Quannapowitt Yacht Club safely.
