LYNNFIELD — The Villager has learned that the community meeting to be hosted by developer Gregg Monasteiro to discuss the redevelopment of the Bali Hai restaurant at 93 Moulton Dr. tentatively scheduled for Thursday night, Oct. 13 has been cancelled.

Monasteiro’s attorney, Jay Kimball, told the newspaper on Wednesday afternoon that his client is currently re-evaluating his options.

At a prior neighborhood meeting a proposal for 68 apartment units had been discussed. Subsequently, some neighbors told the Villager that 22 townhouses may be another option on the table.

The Bali Hai restaurant is a lawful, preexisting non-conforming use in a Residence A zoned neighborhood, which means it was in existence prior to the adoption of the town’s Zoning Bylaws.

A change in use to something other than a restaurant of similar size or the detached, single family homes currently allowed by right in this zoning district would require a change in the Zoning Bylaws by voters at Town Meeting, according to Patrick G. Curley.

Curley, an attorney and neighborhood resident, has established a community forum email at ProtectLynnfield@gmail.com for those who wish to express their concerns or be notified of future updates with regard to this proposal.

Townspeople may also contact the developer or his attorney directly at: Gregg Monasteiro: gregg@bostonsonic.com or Jay Kimball, Esq.: kimballjay2468@aol.com.
