MELROSE — Barbara Jean (Wade) Merrill passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on March 21, 2016. She was 86 years of age.

Barbara was born in Melrose on September 18, 1929 to the late Herman & Helen (Rose) Wade. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and was a lifelong resident. Barbara was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time around her beautiful home.

Mrs. Merrill was the loving mother of Jack Merrill Jr. and his wife Ellen of Groveland; Joann Merrill-Johnson and her husband Jim Johnson of Brentwood, New Hampshire; and the late Jackie Yetman. She was the proud grandmother of Nicky and Jason; Meghan and Jackie; and Laura and Michelle. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, family members and friends.

A funeral service was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, March 24, followed by a burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
