LYNNFIELD — The boys’ basketball team is firing on all cylinders, as the Pioneers’ three victories last week has the locals riding a nine game win steak.

The Pioneers began last week defeating Newburyport 61-43 Feb. 9.

Before the game, the locals recognized senior captains Brendan Sullivan and Jake McHugh and fellow seniors Esaie Philantrope, Tucker Torosian and Cameron DeGeorge along with the players’ families as part of the team’s annual Senior Night celebration.

Lynnfield controlled the play of the game from start to finish. The Pioneers had a 15-10 lead over Newburyport at the end of the first quarter. The locals kept rolling for the next three quarters.

Sullivan led the Pioneers with a team-high 19 points. Sophomore Louis Ellis had 10 points.

Stings Hornets

The Pioneers defeated North Reading 59-51 Feb. 11. The Hornets defeated the Pioneers 54-48 last month.

Sullivan led the Pioneers with 15 points. McHugh had 14 points.

Defeats Masco

The Pioneers crushed Masconomet 69-42 on Feb. 13. Masco defeated Lynnfield 50-40 in late December.

Sullivan led the locals with 21 points. Sophomore Billy Arsenault had 14 points.

Upcoming games

The Pioneers faced Melrose on Monday, Feb. 15, taking place after deadline. Lynnfield hosts Arlington Catholic on Friday, Feb. 19, beginning at 2 p.m.
