Trample Tigers, 5-0

The Hornets pounded the Ipswich Tigers 5–0 on Sept. 28 to earn their second consecutive victory. Junior Cam Davis led the way with 2 goals. Senior Sean Castro, juniors Carlos Moreno and Anthony Tramontozzi added a goal apiece.

North Reading controlled play from the opening whistle. In the fourth minute Castro got the scoring barrage started when he took a perfectly placed through ball from senior Kilian Daly, broke into the box and finished past the Tigers keeper. Just two minutes later Patrick Davis corralled the ball along the sideline and sent a cross into the box. After a scramble in front Cam Davis found the rebound and fired a shot into the back of the net. The Hornets took a 2-0 lead into the half

The dominance continued in the second half. Three minutes into the half Cam Davis extended the lead to 3-0 with an unbelievable individual effort. Davis dribbled through two Ipswich defenders and scored on the breakaway. In the 48th minute Carlos Moreno took a nice feed from Tramontozzi and buried a one timer to pretty much ice the game. In the 68th minute Tramontozzi put a bow on the victory with North Reading’s fifth goal.

Draw Against Manchester-Essex

The Hornets offense couldn’t build off their performance against Ipswich and only managed a goalless draw against the Manchester-Essex Hornets on Sept. 30.

North Reading had seven shots on goal. Their best chance came just three minutes in when a shot beat the goalkeeper but unfortunately was cleared off the line by a defender. In the 73rd minute senior Justin Zhang had a tremendous chance in the box but the goalie made a tremendous save.

Tie Royals, 0-0

The Hornets had their second scoreless draw in as many games tying the Georgetown Royals on Thursday night. Senior Billy Brandano picked up his sixth shutout of the season and the team extended their shutout streak to 338 minutes and have only given up 5 goals in nine games.

North Reading controlled the match but couldn’t finish off their opportunities. In the 15th minute Sean Castro had a golden chance on a breakaway but missed wide past the charging Royals goalie. With under two minutes left in the first half the Georgetown goalie robbed the Hornets on a free header of a corner. Late in the second half it looked like North Reading would take the lead. But somehow the Royals goalie made a point blank reaction save to keep the game tied.

Pound Triton, 4–0

The boys beat Triton 4–0 at home Monday night. Kilian Davis started the scoring followed by Cam Davis (2) and Nick Carpenter with his first varsity goal. Sean Castro scored also but the goal was ruled off side. Castro had assists on Carpenter’s goal. More on this game in next week’s Transcript.
