MELROSE — The Melrose High boys’ swim team recently held its end of the year banquet at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus.

This year’s  team had an exceptional record under Coach Richard Whitworth and Assistant Coach Vicky Brienza and was captained by Ben Fiesel, Justin Hori and Joe Brach. All three captains are departing seniors.

At the Division 2 State Finals held at Boston University, team members established two school records, by creating a 200 yard free-style team relay record, and a 100 yard individual backstroke record by Joe Connolly, next year’s swim team captain.

The team also was awarded a State Finals medal and placed 16th collectively among 40 Massachusetts high school teams.
