MELROSE — Ellie Walsh of Melrose proved once again she is among the best around in youth swimming by medaling at a U.S.A. Swim national qualifying event, the 2016 Jr. National Showcase Cup, held from March 30-April 2  at the Long Center in Clearwater, Fla.

Representing Crimson Aquatics, Ellie qualified for the event by achieving NCSA time standards, pairing her against the strongest teams and swimmers from across the country. Ellie, swimming in the 13-14-year-old girls category, qualified and swam in 10 individual events and 4 relays. She medaled in three events with a 4th place finish in the 50 backstroke (28.14), a 5th place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:06.83) and a 10th place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:00.19). She was also the high point scorer for her Crimson team.
