MELROSE — The Melrose Franklin School/ Early Childhood Center is coordinating a fundraiser to revamp and renew the current playground through a brick sale. These bricks can be engraved with residents’ own special message, dedication or business name and will be placed in the playground entrance.

Purchasing a brick for the ECC playground means residents support the youngest students in the community – those that are just beginning their learning journey. It means that you support giving our youngest students a healthy and safe environment that supports learning, friendship building and having fun.

Mayor Robert Dolan said recently 60 percent of Melrose children go to ECC in some way, shape or form before they enter kindergarten. Brick sale organizers are looking for business owners, parents, grandparents, community members to support this fundraiser.

The deadline to order a brick is Friday, May 15th. The order form can be located at https://mayordolansblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/ecc-playground-brick-order-form.pdf.

There are two sizes available: a standard 4×8 brick for a $100 donation, and a larger 8×8 brick for a $200 donation (or more). Over 80 % of this purchase price will go directly to the playground effort, with the remaining cost for ordering, engraving and shipping the bricks. The pathway will be installed, weather-permitting during the summer.
