MELROSE — The roadway phase of the reconstruction of Lebanon Street will begin on Monday, April 6.

This is a state project, run by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. City officials have met with state officials, and they have given the town a project calendar with 100 percent completion by October 2015.

On Monday, the reconstruction of the roadway itself will begin at Robinson’s Funeral Home and make its way down Main Street through Hospital Square.

This is a particularly disruptive portion of the project, which will include ongoing detours. There is no plan to shut down the area, however, traffic patterns will be altered. There will be continuous access to the hospital, and at the end of this portion of the project the roadway will be paved. Please take this into account during your travels next week.
