WAKEFIELD — Police, firefighters and Action Ambulance responded to a Pleasant Street address after a vehicle crashed into a garage at about 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

According to police, a 2007 Chevy minivan was attempting to back into a driveway and ended up driving into the wall of a concrete block detached garage. The Fire Department said that there was major damage to the garage and a private contractor had to be called in to shore up the structure before the minivan could be removed.

There were two other vehicles parked in the garage, one of which also sustained significant damage, according to the Fire Department. The minivan, which reportedly also struck a large tree, was eventually towed from the scene. There were no injuries reported.

Waltham Fire Chief Paul Ciccone says the complex’s five buildings collapsed in the early Sunday fire. Ciccone says none of the neighboring buildings caught fire. Crews evacuated nearby housing complexes. Ciccone says the apartment complex was slated to open later this year. He says officials have not determined the cause of the fire. No injuries have been reported.
