OBIT_Carol-Wallace_MWN_webMELROSE — Carol B. (Babcock) Wallace, 73, died peacefully on February 19, 2017.

Carol was born in New Haven, Conn., and raised in Cheshire, Conn. She was a graduate of Cheshire High School, University of Connecticut and Boston College where she received her master’s degree in Social Work. She served as a probation officer at the Somerville Court House for 16 years and subsequently served the Melrose educational system, most notably as the Teen Health Center counselor where she helped many youths.

Carol had a passion for travel and her favorite destination was Oaxaca, Mexico, where she and her husband had many cherished memories. She also spent her summers with her family at picturesque Moosehead Lake in Maine. She was a huge Red Sox fan, never missing a game, whether on the couch running the play-by-play with her good friend Alyce Mann or at Fenway Park with her sons. Carol helped so many people throughout her storied life and will always be remembered for her larger-than-life, friendly personality, and infectious laugh.

Carol was the daughter of the late Claire Brockett and Jaynes Babcock and the loving sister of Peter Babcock of Bayard, N.M. She was the beloved wife of the late William M. Wallace Jr. and the loving mother of Jonathan Wallace and his wife Rachel of Saugus, Jeffery Wallace of Nahant, and Kathryn Lovejoy of Madison, Conn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eliza Wallace, Ava Doherty, and Pam and Bennett Lovejoy, all of whom she greatly adored.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bayside Function Hall, One Range Road in Nahant on Saturday, March 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
