Lombardo-obit-webSAUGUS — William L. “Billy” Lombardo, 87, of Saugus, died at his home on Feb. 20.

Billy was born and raised in East Boston, was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and went on to earn his degree from Boston University.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning from Korea, he resided in East Boston until age 24 and for the past 57 years in Saugus.

Billy worked as a manager for Travelers Insurance in Boston for 34 years.

He was a member of the Saugus V.F.W. and loved playing cards with friends at the Saugus Senior Center. Billy was a former member of the Saugus Knights of Columbus and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.

He loved to travel with his wife to Italy, Germany, Monte Carlo, Florida, Vegas and Foxwoods. Billy was a loyal, witty, “tell it like it is” person and was a great joke teller.

Billy’s wife and family was the most important part of his life.

He was the beloved husband of Camille M. (Pizzano) Lombardo for 62 years. He was the loving father of Keith W. Lombardo of FL. He was the father-in-law of Tracy (Frump) Lombardo of FL. He was the cherished grandfather of Dimitri, Natalia, Sabrina, Adriana and Bianca. He was the caring brother of Valerie Ferri and her husband Thomas of CA. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose, on Friday, Feb. 24,, at 10 a.m.
