Waitress at Hilltop Restaurant, former Pop Warner cheering coach

Carol-Shaw-obit-7-21-17_webLOWELL — Carol A. (Reddington) Shaw, 73, of Melrose, died at the Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell on July 17, 2017.

Carol was born and raised in Malden and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception School in Malden. She had resided in Melrose since 1971 and had worked as a waitress for the Hilltop Steakhouse for 37 years and also as a cashier for Kmart in Saugus for 12 years. Carol was a member of St. Mary’s Church for many years and loved to play bingo.

She was a cheerleading coach for the Melrose Pop Warner Football program for 10 years and enjoyed traveling on Elks conventions with her husband and spending time in Bar Harbor, Maine. Carol’s family was the most important part of her life and she loved to spend her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the beloved wife of the late David M. Shaw Sr. for almost 50 years. She was the loving mother of David M. Shaw Jr. of Seabrook, N.H., John S. Shaw and his wife Teresa of Dracut, and Ann Marie Molbeck of Lawrence. She was the cherished grandmother of Derek, Brandon, Jessica, Ashley, Cassandra, Lindsay and Paul Jr. She was the loving great-grandmother of Autumn, Brady and Adeline. She was the caring sister of John Reddington III and his wife Janice of Amesbury. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Sunday, July 23 from 2-5 p.m. Her funeral will be held from the Gately Funeral Home on Monday, July 24 at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St., Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will take place in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
