MELROSE—Graduating Melrose senior captain footballs stars Collin Casey and Mike Pedrini have been chosen to represent Melrose High football at the Annual Shriner’s All-Star Football Classic held on June 17 at Bentley University in Waltham.

The talented duo were a force to be reckoned during their high school football careers at Melrose High. The two senior captains helped deliver Melrose to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances during their sophomore and juniors years. This season, they helped Melrose clinch their 3rd straight Middlesex Freedom title, and earned All Star nods for their efforts.

Casey is known as a very talented all-around athlete for Melrose High. He has earned back-to-back All Star honors as a member Tim Morris’ Melrose Red Raider football team, and over the course of seasons was key in several goal line stands. Casey is also a three-sport captain and multi-year All Star in track and wrestling. This winter Casey earned a state title as a member of the state champion Red Raider wrestling team. Next fall, Casey will suit up for the Mass Maritime Academy football team in Buzzards Bay where he will be studying International Maritime Business.

Pedrini has made his mark at Melrose High in the most indelible ways. In three seasons he quickly established himself as one of the best football players who ever suited up at Melrose High. He is a two time league MVP, multi-season All Scholastic, and, with 28 touchdowns this season, earned a modern day record for Melrose High and led all of Division 2 in rushing scores during his 2016 season. His season was capped off with a five-touchdown performance against Wayland in November. After he finishes his senior season with the MHS boys’ lacrosse team, Pedrini will take his pigskin game to Tufts University in the fall as a member of the Jumbos football team.
