PHOTO: Fitting tribute to lost World War I veterans

THANKS TO THE efforts of the Veterans Department with support from the Veterans Advisory Board, Town Administrator Stephen P. Maio and the Board of Selectmen, a new World War I memorial was installed by the DPW and others this morning on the Veterans Memorial Common. The new monument honoring those Wakefieldians who made the supreme sacrifice during The War to End All Wars will be officially dedicated at Memorial Day ceremonies May 29. The plaque has been cleaned and mounted on a new granite stone.

BETH HYLAN OF SweetBay (second from left) and her daughter Liz Ferreira (center) will create the floral arrangements that will be featured at the 10th annual Blossoms at the Beebe to benefit the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library and the Wakefield Lynnfield Chamber of Commerce. The adult-only event will be held this Saturday evening, April 29th from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Library, 345 Main Street. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Beebe Library Reference Desk or online at www.blossomatthebeebe.com for $35 per person.
