A LACK OF RAIN has left Crystal Lake with a lower than normal water level. The islands in the lake are showing more land than usual and the water that usually comes about halfway up on the rocks behind the Broadway pumping station is now several feet lower. DPW Director Richard Stinson said today that the town will likely reduce the amount it pumps out of Crystal Lake this week and through August due to the low water levels. Wakefield gets some of its drinking water from Crystal Lake and some from the MWRA.
