WAKEFIELD —In an annual December rite, the Board of Selectmen renewed 176 licenses this week, including those of liquor establishments, restaurants, car dealers and fortune tellers.

SANTA CLAUS greets the crowd of children who awaited his arrival at his headquarters on the Common on Saturday. Santa then spent the afternoon inside his headquarters meeting children and asking them what they wanted for Christmas. Between now and Christmas, children can visit Santa at his headquarters on the Common Monday through Friday, 3:30 - 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m. The Wakefield Lions Club sponsors Santa’s local headquarters every year.  (Mark Sardella Photo)
