LYNNFIELD — The annual Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk to Cure CF is being held Sunday, May 22 at the Lynnfield Common.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the 5-mile walk begins at 11 a.m. There will be a silent auction and a DJ throughout the event.

Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs, but can also clog any hollow organ with thick, sticky mucus, which leads to life-threatening infections.

The public is invited to participate in this fundraising effort to fund critical research to cure this devastating disease. Those who are interested in walking may register online at www.cff.org/great_strides for the Lynnfield walk site of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation/MA/RI Chapter.

Those unable to participate in the walk, but who wish to make a donation, may do so online at www.cff.org/great_strides and look for the “Lynnfield, MA” walk site. To request a walk envelope or any further information, please call Anne Distefano at 617-974-7805 or email to aandjdistefano@verizon.net. You may also mail donations payable to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, to Anne Distefano, 19 Driftwood Lane, Lynnfield, MA 01940.

“Hot dogs and refreshments will be served after the walk at the town common. Please join us for a fun day for a great cause,” Destefano said.
