MELROSE — Following is the schedule of events planned for the 2016 Home for the Holidays celebration.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2

• Edward Jones, 502 Main St., 4:00pm – 5:45pm

Santa is holding court at Edward Jones! Bring your children in for a photo. Co-sponsored by Marie T. Wood Realty.

• City Hall Lawn, Main Street, 6:15pm – 6:30pm

Start the holiday season with the lighting of the City holiday tree by Mayor Robert Dolan. Dancers from the Melrose Youth Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker will join us and holiday music will be provided by Roman Music Therapy Services. Bring your singing voice!

Main Street, Downtown Melrose, 6:30pm – 7:00pm

Mayor Dolan will turn on the downtown holiday lights and Santa Claus arrives in Melrose! Enjoy complimentary coffee and hot chocolate served by Coffee, Tea and Me at the courtyard of the YMCA on Main Street. After Santa arrives, bring your list to him while he sits at Edward Jones, 502 Main Street. Get in the holiday spirit with music provided by DJ Tommy.

The festivities continue for people of all ages with entertainment, holiday music, and refreshments throughout downtown on Friday and then all over Melrose on Saturday!

A variety of businesses and organizations invite you to visit Friday night and Saturday. The include:

Melrose Youth Ballet presents the 22nd Annual Presentation of “The Nutcracker,” Memorial Hall, 590 Main St. Performances: Friday, December 2nd at 8pm; Saturday, December 3rd at 1 pm and 7pm; Sunday December 4th at 1pm. Tickets available at Pepperberry Florist and Gifts, 539 Main Street and at the door.
