NORTH READING — The community is invited to stop by Meredith Casey’s bake sale and lemonade stand on Wednesday, Aug. 30 to support the seventh-grader’s new nonprofit, the Mighty Meredith Project (MMP).

Confections for a Cause will be held at 20 Duane Drive from 12 to 5 p.m.

Founded in July, MMP is an organization dedicated to raising awareness of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and their hidden impact; giving back to the medical community and performing random acts of kindness, with a specific focus on those with a hidden injury or illness not just a TBI.

According to Meredith’s mom, Karen, after her daughter suffered a TBI and had to give up all contact sports, they created MMP as part of her recovery. By focusing on everything she can do, rather than what she had to give up, she is excited to have the opportunity to give back to the community by raising awareness of hidden injuries and illnesses and to support the medical community that has been involved in her care.

Meredith, who has just turned 13, has created a mission statement for her organization. It is simply this: “Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
