NICK CORDEAU of Melrose was selected to play in the MBCA Junior Select State All-Star Game on Sunday, June 19 at Bentley University.

MELROSE — Melrose’s Nick Cordeau was selected to play in the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association (MBCA) Junior Select State All-Star Game on Sunday, June 19 at Bentley University.
The game was made up of the top high school underclassman in the state. Teams were made up of mostly juniors and played in front of a large number of college scouts. The game pitted Eastern Massachusetts vs. Central and Western Massachusetts. The Central/Western Mass. Team prevailed 6-0. The pitching was dominating for the Central West team allowing only 5 hits in the 9 inning game.
At the end of games, awards were giving to each team for the top pitcher and an MVP from each side. Cordeau was named MVP of the game for the Eastern Team going 1-3 with two stolen bases and strong play in the field. Nick was also selected as one of 16 players from the field of 47 to represent Massachusetts vs. Connecticut in the 2016 Seventh Annual New England Challenge which will be played at Palmer Field in Middletown, Conn. this Saturday, June 25 at 2 p.m.
Cordeau is a standout player on the MHS Red Raider team batting well over .400 during the regular season. He returns next season.
