MELROSE — The Friends of Melrose Football is kickstarting a financial campaign which includes a Golf Tournament and fund raising drive that will run between June 1 and July 15.
The 2016 Red Raiders are looking to build on great 2014 and 2015 seasons when the Red Raiders finished the season as Division 3 North Champs, had two trips to the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium and posted top 10 rankings in The Boston Globe. What might be remembered most are the FIVE victories over Wakefield during the last two seasons.
Through the generous support of alumni and friends the Friends of Melrose Football (FMF) has been able to continue to provide funding for coaching positions (football and strength/conditioning) and football and strength/conditioning equipment for the MHS Football Program.
FMF GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 26th Annual FMF Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, July 15, 1:30 p.m. shotgun start at the Mount Hood Golf Club. Please register early. They will also be presenting the annual Ray Rocha Memorial Scholarship and the annual Coach Bruce MacPherson Memorial Scholarship and Shoe Award.
Tickets to the dinner after the FMF golf tournament will also be sold. Due to work and other considerations, not everybody can make it out that day. Many have expressed interest in attending the dinner and awards ceremony that starts at 6 p.m. so they’ve made it possible for more to get involved.
If you cannot participate in the Golf Tournament or attend the dinner after please support the program, with a donation of $25 or more, to the FMF – Varsity Club, your name and year of graduation will appear on the Varsity Club pages of the Melrose Football Game Program as a supporter of MHS Football. Please make check payable to FMF and mail to: Friends of Melrose Football; 62 East St.; Melrose MA 02176
Additionally, on May 19 Friends of Melrose Football held the first Alumni Gathering event at J.J. Grimsby’s and it was a huge success. All who attended will be added to the 2016 Varsity Club.
