WHS graduate served during Vietnam

WAKEFIELD — Daniel M. Curran, 61, a lifelong Wakefield resident, died Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Winchester on March 17, 1953, he was the son of Ardis Curran Lavoie and the late John T. Curran.

Mr. Curran was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1971. He had served in the Army during Vietnam. He had most recently been working as a self-employed carpenter and has also worked as a bartender at the West Side Social Club and the Elks.

Mr. Curran was very active in the Fourth of July Parade over the years, helping in the building of floats. He was also involved in Family Day planning.

Mr. Curran is survived by his daughter Sarah Curran of Wakefield. He was the brother of Patricia O’Brien of Maine, Jack and Paul Curran of Wakefield, Linda Rea, Gerald and Kevin Curran of New Hampshire and Edward Curran of Georgia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o’clock.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
