ARLINGTON — David A. Carchia, 67, of Arlington and a former Wakefield resident, died Aug. 20 at the E.N. Rogers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford.

He was born in Medford on June 5, 1948 and was the beloved son of Irene M. (Atwood) Carchia of Reading and the late Michael A. Carchia.

Mr. Carchia was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1966, and was an outstanding athlete in both football and track during his career.

He went on attend the University of Rhode Island before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He later served in Vietnam.

He had worked for many years as a television technician.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Carchia is survived by his brother Michael A. Carchia Jr. of New Hampshire. He was also the uncle of Sally Mastalerz and husband Rick, Jeffrey Carchia, Kristina Michaud and husband Dan and Michael F. Carchia and wife Mary.

A graveside service will be held at the Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell Street, Wakefield on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
