Denise-Fitzgerald-obit-webSTONEHAM — Denise (Coakley) Fitzgerald, 64, of Stoneham, died on May 2 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Denise was born in Boston, raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Roslindale High School, Class of 1969. She went on Boston Business School and also attended Emmanuel College in Boston.

Denise worked as a relocation manager for Gillette Corp. for over 30 years before her retirement in 2003.

She enjoyed golf, puzzles, gardening and spending her time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Denise loved to travel with her husband to Florida, Ireland, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Caribbean, Aruba and cruises on the Panama Canal. She also enjoyed going on her annual trip with her longtime friends “The Boston Barbies” whom she loved very much.

Denise was the beloved wife of Robert A. Fitzgerald for 37 years. She was the devoted daughter of the late James & Rhoda (O’Brien) Coakley. Caring sister of James Coakley and his wife Judi of Cape Cod, Stephen Coakley and his wife Kathy of Dedham, Jodi Frawley and her husband Charlie of Bellingham, Michael Coakley of Wareham and the late Michael Robert Coakley. She was the loving stepmother of Robert Fitzgerald and his wife Debra of Salem, NH, Debra Rogers and her husband William of VA and Amy Fitzgerald of FL. Cherished “NeeNee” of 7 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, May 6, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, at 8 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
