Love of music, singing, traveling and baking

MELROSE — Diane M. (Trask) Guiry of Melrose, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 6 at the age of 74. She was born in Everett on December 24, 1949 to the late Barbara (Walsh) and Edward Trask. Diane was raised in Everett and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge.

Diane was a longtime member of The Church of the Incarnation Parish in Melrose. She was very active within the parish community, she was a member of the church choir and cantor and was regularly volunteering her time for Generations of Faith, CCD and just about anything else she could do to help the parish. Diane also worked as the payroll manager for All Care VNA in Lynn for 30 years. Before everything else, she was a loving mother and “Gram”. She loved her family dearly and “Gram” was her favorite and most proud name to go by. Over the years she passed on her love of music, singing and reading stories to her five beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling around the country and to Ireland, going to craft fairs, decorating for every holiday, baking her “famous” cookies and Dirt Dessert and her wonderful neighbors.

Diane was the beloved wife of Jim Guiry of Melrose for 55 years. The loving mother of Kathryn Castle and her husband Andrew of Stow; Jim Guiry and his wife Tracy Fernald of Middleton; and Jennifer Guiry and her wife Vicky Waltz of Melrose. Proud Gram of Mariah, Emma, James, Brendan and David. Caring sister of Ken Trask, Edward Trask and the late Robert Trask.

Visiting hours were held on Monday, November 11 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A funeral Mass was held at the Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose on Tuesday, November 12 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Interment was private.
