WAKEFIELD — A 36-year-old Connecticut man was issued a citation in the wake of a two-car crash at Crescent and Centre Streets just after noon yesterday.
Police said that a 2014 Honda Civic driven by a 55-year-old Medford man was traveling north on Crescent Street when a 2003 Honda Accord driven by the Connecticut man came out of Otis Street heading west toward Centre Street and hit the rear passenger side of the Civic. The Fire Department also responded, but there were no injuries.
The Civic was towed from the scene and the driver of the Accord was issued a citation for a “Stop” sign violation.

Just before noon, police were called to Green Street after a 2005 International flatbed tow truck driven by a 36-year-old Florida man coming down from Upland Road hit a retaining wall on Dillaway Street before coming to rest on some bushes on Green Street. The crash resulted in damage to the retaining wall and the bushes. No injuries were reported.

Just after noon yesterday, police were called to the Everly Apartments at 14 Audubon Rd. after a woman reported having an altercation with another female resident of the building who she claimed had tried to run her down with a vehicle. Both women were advised of their rights and sent on their way.

Just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday, police received a complaint of a vehicle with a repair plate driving at a high rate of speed with a loud exhaust in the area of Melvin and Water streets. The caller stated that it was an ongoing issue. Police were not able to locate the vehicle but did speak to the owner of the repair plate who said he would speak to the operator of the vehicle.

At about 6:15 p.m. yesterday, a Broadway resident said that she believed that someone had opened her apartment door and slammed it shut. Police found no visible signs of forced entry and will speak with building maintenance.

A 51-year-old Wakefield man will be summonsed to court for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after police stopped the Hyundai sedan he was driving on Water Street with no headlights on at 7:45 p.m. yesterday. The driver told police that he forgot to turn on the headlights. A Registry check revealed that the man’s driver’s license had expired in November of 2016. The driver was additionally cited for a headlight violation. He called his brother come and to drive the car.

At about 4:45 a.m. today, a Pine Hill Circle resident reported seeing a pack of coyotes attacking another animal, possibly a dog. Police said that the coyotes ran off when they arrived. Police were unable to determine if an animal had been attacked.

At 5:30 a.m. today, a caller reported a trash company picking up trash early at a company on West Water Street and causing a disturbance.

The Fire Department responded to 12 calls yesterday, of which 9 were for medical aid.
