MALDEN — Edward A. Santoro, 86, passed away on July 8.

Edward grew up in Somerville where he attended the Brown School. He was a longtime resident of Arlington and North Reading before moving to New Hampshire in 1971. Edward was a United States Navy veteran during World War II and worked as a salesman for many years.

He was a longtime member of the VFW Post 1506 in Melrose and was a member of the Lieutenant Norman Prince Drum and Bugle Corps, National Champions.

Edward was the former husband of Nan Randall and the late Claire (Mayo) Santoro. He was the beloved father of Alaina Sweeney and her husband Stephen of Amherst, N.H. and Eddie and Doug Santoro. Edward was the stepfather of Cheryl McGrath and Richard Mayo. He was the dear brother of Salvatore and Robert Santoro. Edward was the cherished grandfather of Brianna, Nicole, Meghan and Zack. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main St., Malden on Friday, July 17, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours were held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 16, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
