Former aide at Hood School, resident of town for 16 years

Eleanor-Fuller-(color)-webGORHAM, Maine — Eleanor T. Fuller of Gorham, Maine, formerly of North Reading, died on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016. She was born in Bangor, Maine on Dec. 29, 1926, a daughter of Raymond and Eleanor Knowles Torrey. Eleanor (known as “Betty”) attended Bangor schools, and established a cookie delivery route in her neighborhood. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1945 and the University of Maine at Orono in 1949.

In 1950 she married Donald C. Fuller, with whom she moved to Massachusetts and raised three boys. Eleanor was a teacher’s aide at Hood School, and never having lost her love of baking. She made a business of baking cookies for shops in Boston, Beverly, North Andover and other nearby locations. Donald predeceased her in 1981.

After her husband’s passing, Eleanor moved back to Maine, making her home in Gorham, where she enjoyed baking, gardening, her Sheltie dogs and making quilts. She ran a yearly craft fair in Gorham and volunteered at the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook for many years.

A lifelong Baptist, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Reading and attended the First Baptist Church in Westbrook.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte M. Torrey. Survivors include her sons, Donald C. Fuller Jr. of Durham, Maine, David A. Fuller of Auburn, Maine and Kevin D. Fuller of Billerica, their wives, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Eleanor asked that donations in her memory be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (www.arlgp.org) in Westbrook, Maine.
