LYNNFIELD — Town Clerk Trudy Reid is seeking additional election workers for the Tuesday, Nov. 8 Presidential Election.
Election workers play a vital role in the democratic process. Election workers must have their own transportation, be available to attend a training session in October, dedicate all of their efforts to the election on Election Day, must be able to hear voters, see the voting list to cross off the name, sit for extended periods of time, and keep calm during moments of adversity.
Assignments are split between three shifts: 6:45 a.m. – 1 p.m.; 1 p.m. – 6 p.m., and 6 p.m. until all votes are counted, approximately between 9 –10 p.m.
There is no guarantee of assignment, but positions are expected to be open. The hourly rate is $10. Election workers are not required to work every election.
Workers must be registered voters within the state of Massachusetts, but not necessarily a resident of Lynnfield, based on MGL ch. 54, sec. 12. Lynnfield residents will be given priority.
If you are interested in becoming an election worker, please send your name and preferred phone number to Town Clerk Trudy Reid at treid@town.lynnfield.ma.us. Those who do not have email may call 781-334-9401. You will be contacted for more details.
