“Neenay” to her grandchildren and great–grandchildren

NORTH READING — Elsie L. (Lindquist) Saunders, a resident of North Reading for 12 years, formerly a long time resident of Reading, died at her home on Jan. 24, 2016. She was 90 years of age.

Elsie was born in Reading on Feb. 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Alfred and Lillie E. (Ottoson) Lindquist. She graduated from Reading High School, class of 1942. She worked for Watson Brothers Plumbing and Eric’s Greenhouse, both in Reading, as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed working in her garden and spending her summers at Square Pond in Maine but her family was first and foremost in her life.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ocran O. Saunders and the devoted mother of Richard A. Saunders and his wife Carole of Southborough, Bradford O. Saunders and his wife Marcella of Hudson, Kenneth A. Saunders and his wife Susan and Heidi E. Goddard and her husband Daniel McAuliffe all of North Reading. She was the cherished sister of the late Edith Schimpfke, Ruth Woodside, Alfred Lindquist and Phyllis Watson. She was known affectionately as Neenay to her eight grandchildren and eight great–grandchildren and to all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 95 Woburn St., Reading at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading. Services were from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn Street), Reading.
