MELROSE — Donations to the Melrose Emergency Fund topped $43,000 this week, surpassing the total amount donated in last year’s fundraising drive.
“While we do our main fundraising during the holiday season, the Emergency Fund works year-round to support Melrose families who are going through difficult times,” said Mayor Rob Dolan. “Over the past few months we have not only helped several families with fuel and other bills but also worked with the Melrose Public Schools and local agencies to reach out to families who might otherwise have a difficult holiday season. This important work will continue throughout the year, as we strive to ensure that no one in Melrose goes cold or hungry. I want to thank the many generous Melrosians who have donated to the Emergency Fund this year. This is truly a gift that keeps on giving all year long.”
