Ernest-Salsman-obit-webMALDEN — Ernest F. “Ernie” Salsman passed away suddenly at his home in Malden, on March 18. He was only 59 years old.

Ernie was born in Melrose on November 9, 1956, was raised in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School, Class of 1974. Ernie attended Salem State College, where he was a member of the hockey team. Mr. Salsman lived in Medford for several years and the past 16 years in Malden. He worked as a contracts manager for Comtronics Company, a communications company in Quincy for the past 10 years. He had previously worked at Melrose Glass for many years.

Ernie was a Boston sports fan and loved to watch the Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics over the years. He had a passion for his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and his favorite colors were black and orange. Ernie enjoyed spending time in Wells, Maine, sitting on the wall enjoying a Bud Light, tinkering around his home or in his workshop and he could fix anything. Mr. Salsman was also a “grill master” and loved entertaining family and friends at his home in Malden.

Ernie was the beloved husband of Regina (Valente) Salsman. He was the loving son of Mildred (Tura) Salsman of Saugus and the late Ernest Salsman. He was the father of Adam Salsman of Quincy and Eric Salsman of California. He was the caring brother of Amy Alther of Saugus; and Marc Salsman and his wife Valerie of Danvers. He is also survived by many loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Tuesday, March 22. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 23.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
