WAKEFIELD — Eugene E. Poti, 96, of Wakefield and formerly of Stoneham, died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield.
Born in Somerville on May 17, 1920, he was the son of the late Joseph and Albena (Potito) Poti.
Mr. Poti was a graduate of Somerville Trade School. He was a World War II Navy veteran and had retired from the Boston Navy Yard in 1970 and then from Thermo Electron in 1977 at the age of 65. Mr. Poti was a member of St. Florence Parish in Wakefield.
He was the husband of the late Josephine (Guerrera) Poti. Mr. Poti is survived by his daughters Jeannine Cutter of Wakefield, Jessica Robbins and her husband Steve and Diane Brophy and her husband Paul, all of New Hampshire, and Stephanie Morris and her husband Keith of Wakefield. Also survived by his nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Littlehale, Michael, Christopher and Eugene White, Miranda Locke, Karla Owens, Lauren Riley and Derek and Samantha Morris, and 11 great-grandchildren: Paige and Gwyneth Littlehale, Katrina, Brandon, Amanda and Christopher Jr. and Addison White, Joshua Locke, Jack and Cole Owens and Harrison Morris. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Poti, his sister Maryann Caino and his son-in-law Russell Cutter.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
