WAKEFIELD — Eugene W. Haas, 87, of Wakefield died on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Winchester Hospital.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio on April 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Esmond and Flora (Bennet) Haas.

Eugene was a graduate of Niagara Falls (N.Y.) High School and a graduate of the University of Michigan. After college, he served in the Navy during World War II. Eugene had been a Wakefield resident since 1960 and was the retired owner of Instrument Dynamics in Wakefield.

He was also a longtime member of the IEEE and of the ERA.

Eugene was the beloved husband of the late Ethel (Davey) Haas. He was the loving father of William A. Haas and his wife Linda of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Robert F. Haas and his wife Nancy of Wakefield. He was the brother of Donna Rick of New York and Martha Reed of Tennessee. Eugene is also survived by his three grandchildren, Ian, Taylor and Robert.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
