LYNNFIELD — Evelyn (Scanlan) Rinn, 92, of Lynnfield and formerly of Wakefield, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Reading after a brief illness.

Born in Malden on Oct. 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Loretto (Kelley)
Scanlan.

Mrs. Rinn was a graduate of Cheverus High School in Malden as well as Burdett College in Boston. She had worked at the Malden Savings Bank, where she met her late husband, Dr. James Patrick Rinn, an optometrist in Melrose.

She later worked for New England Dairy and Food Council as an office manager before her retirement.

Evelyn was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and had been a member of the Red Cross and Wakefield Garden Club. Recently she enjoyed playing bridge at the Lynnfield Senior Center.

She spent summers at Conomo Point in Essex from 1948 to 1968 and participated in a family reunion there this past summer.

She was the loving mother of Patricia Willey and Virginia Rinn, both of North Reading. She was the loving grandmother of Erika Willey of Providence, R.I. and Kenneth Willey of North Reading. She was the sister of the late John W. Scanlan, his wife Betty Scanlan and Eleanor M. Scanlan. She was the aunt of Lori Nelson and her husband John of Medford and Mary Bates and her husband Ken and the great aunt to their children Ian, Eric and Julia of Haverhill.

The family wishes to thank The Residence at Pearl Street and Beacon Hospice for providing Evelyn such loving care.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Grove and Salem streets, Lynnfield, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
