LYNNFIELD — The school department is hosting Family Coding Night on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 6-8 p.m. in the Lynnfield High School media center.
According to technology integration specialist Jennifer Judkins, Family Coding Night builds on the school department’s Hour of Code initiatives. Hour of Code, a worldwide event held during Computer Science Education Week, strives to give young students a one-hour introduction to computer science and teaches students coding basics.
The free drop-in style event is for families and children in grades K-8. Attendees will be participating in a variety of coding and robotics challenges.
Superintendent of Schools Jane Tremblay encouraged local parents to bring their children to the event during last week’s School Committee meeting.
“I think parents will be very surprised to see how proficient their children are when it comes to coding,” said Tremblay. “I encourage all parents to come.”
