Martin, Dickey, Conroy, Schilling and Beck all honored

WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League football coaches met recently to make this year’s all-star selections in both the Freedom and Liberty divisions and on offense and on defense.

For the Wakefield Memorial High football team, it had five players named an M.L. Freedom division all-star with three on offense and two on defense.

Senior running back Luke Martin, senior WR Brian Dickey and senior lineman Brian Conroy were the three Warrior offensive players chosen.

Senior defensive lineman Eric Schilling and junior defensive back Tighe Beck were the two defensive players from Wakefield honored.

Freedom division champion Watertown had four all-stars, while Super Bowl finalist and league runner-up Melrose had seven all-stars selections. Wilmington and Stoneham each had three all-stars and Burlington had one player selected.

Watertown QB Nick Giordano, a senior, was named the M.L. Freedom division MVP.

In the M.L. Liberty division, league champion Woburn had the most selections with nine all-stars. Lexington was next with six, while Reading, Winchester and Arlington each had four all-stars. Belmont had one league all-star chosen.

Woburn DB Tyler Joseph, a senior, was named the M.L. Liberty division MVP.
