WAKEFIELD — Friends of Lake Quannapowitt (FOLQ) will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday May 20 at Bear Hill Golf Club, 2 North St., Stoneham.

Doug Heath, well known as a water scientist and as an historian of Lake Quannapowitt is slated to speak. He will review how this community has recognized Lake problems in the past and tried various methods to improve Lake conditions. A look at the past may be helpful now as a contemporary Town Lake Study Committee evaluates potential interventions to enhance the quality of Lake water. Available at a side table for public perusal will be scrapbooks of newspaper articles about Lake Quannapowitt, covering more than a hundred years.

Prior to the 7:30 p.m. business meeting and presentation by Mr. Heath, members and interested individuals are warmly invited to gather for a social hour (cash bar) at 6 p.m. and a buffet dinner ($15 per person) at 6:30. Reservations must be made by May 15 for the dinner.

To attend the buffet dinner, please mail $15 per reservation to FOLQ, P.O. Box 517, Wakefield MA 01880 or call Karen Faler at 781-245-9093.
