food-drive-webNORTH READING — Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.

To donate, just place a box or bag of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on Saturday in May 9. The carrier will do the rest. The food collected in North Reading will be delivered to the North Reading Food Pantry. The pantry could use any of the following items: White tuna, oatmeal, pasta sides, rice sides, baked beans, snacks/drinks for school, coffee, condiments, chili, canned chicken, meat soups, chowder, cake mixes, frosting and muffin mixes. They have plenty of baby food and diapers right now. Take a minute to think of the families who need to use the Food Pantry.
