BOSTON — The Lynnfield High softball team won its fourth-consecutive game on Monday afternoon as they beat host Boston Latin Academy, 6-2, to complete the season sweep over the non-league Dragons.

With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 8-5.

Sophia Brown was the winning pitcher to go to 6-5 in the circle. The junior gave up one earned run, five hits, one walk and she struck out four as she pitched all seven innings.

“That was her best game of the year,” stated Pioneers head coach Hector Longo. “She kept the ball down and our defense was sharp.”

Lynnfield committed only one error.

The Pioneers scored four times in the top of the second, and single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Boston Latin scored once in the third and one more in the fourth.

Lynnfield’s offense had eight hits. Morgan Hubbard and Libby Considine were the two multiple hitters as Hubbard was 2 for 4 with one run batted in while Considine was 2 for 3 with a walk and one RBI.

Ava Gamache had an RBI single in the second while Kaila George added an RBI single in the fifth.

On May 5, the Pioneers drubbed Rockport, 22-4, on the road in a five-inning mercy-rule game.

“They are a rebuilding team,” said Longo, about the Vikings who fell to 2-9 overall and 1-8 in the Cape Ann League.

Lynnfield, meanwhile, improved to 3-5 in the CAL.

The Pioneers scored seven times in the first inning and added eight more in the second. Overall, they had 15 hits. Gamache led the way going 4 for 5 with three RBI. Lauren Amico had a team-high five RBI as she went 2 for 4.

Lily Williams was 2 for 3 with one RBI while Ava Marotta was 2 for 4 with one RBI. Abi Travers was the team’s other multiple hitter going 2 for 5 with one run batted in.

The May 3 scheduled game at Malden Catholic was postponed until May 25 due to rain.

Lynnfield’s next game will be on May 11 as they host Newburyport looking for a split of the season series.

On May 15, the Pioneers welcome Georgetown.

Both of those games will start at 4 p.m.
