US Navy veteran passionate about boating

READING — Frederick W. Burns, 82, of North Reading died Jan. 20, 2016 at Wingate Nursing Center, Reading.

Born in Beverly, Feb. 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Vivian (Dodge) and Robert Burns. He was raised in Hamilton and, after serving in the U.S. Navy, he earned a B.S. at Northeastern University in Accounting. He was passionate about boating and owned and operated Outboard Engine Repairs and Services for many years. He was the husband of the late Marjorie A. (Connolly) Burns and is survived by three children, Paul Burns, Diane Burns and Elaine Dement. He is also survived by two sisters, Christine Clark of Weymouth and Susan Baer of Taunton and four grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held at Saint Theresa Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading at a later date.
