Army veteran was talented mechanic

WAKEFIELD — Gerald F. DeVeau, 81, of Wakefield, died Monday, February 20 at CareOne at Wilmington.
Born in Wakefield on April 9, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice (Muise) DeVeau.
Gerald was raised in Wakefield and had attended the Wakefield Public Schools. He had served in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
He was a retired mechanic for Yale Equipment in Wilmington. Though he started off in the foundation business, Gerald was very mechanically inclined and worked on elevators, motorcycles and forklifts.
He was the beloved husband of Betty A. (Heselton) DeVeau. He was the brother of Katherine Whittington and Lorraine Weaver, both of Maryland, and Pearl Sienickicz of New York and was predeceased by five other siblings. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
