Geraldine-Ballato-Obit-webPEABODY — Geraldine Davison Ballato, 89, of Peabody and formerly of Wakefield, died Thursday, Dec. 8 at her residence.

Born in Springfield on April 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Grace (Maguire) Dionne.

Geraldine was raised in Pittsfield and graduated from St. Joseph High School. She had worked at American Mutual of Wakefield and Tammy’s Restaurant in Boston. She was a member of the DAV and was a past Commander of the Women’s Chapter and was also a member of St. Joseph Church.

Geraldine loved the beach, especially Wingaersheek in Gloucester; but above all, she loved to spend time with family and friends.

She was the wife of the late Santo Ballato and Arnold Davison. She was the loving mother of Jeanne McDonald and her husband Jay of North Reading and Linda Swain and her husband Robert of Tampa, Fla. She was the stepmother of Sandra and her fiancé Shaun and Bertha, all of Pittsfield. She is survived by six grandchildren: Lisa, Ryan, Mark, Robert, Courtney and Michael; 11 great-grandchildren: Samantha, Carly, Megan, Emily, Maggie, Ellie, Sienna, Sophia, Liam, Jane and Charlotte, and one step-grandson, Chris Weldon.

The funeral is from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Interment will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
