Grazianoobit-webWAKEFIELD — Gerard J. Graziano, 80, of Wakefield died Saturday, January 21, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Dominica (Lombino) Graziano.

Mr. Graziano was raised in Brooklyn, NY, before moving to Malden, where he graduated from Malden High School in 1954. He later enlisted in the United States Army.

An avid sports fan, Mr. Graziano never forgot his New York roots and remained a diehard Yankees fan. In his spare time he loved to golf at Mount Hood in Melrose, to travel with his family, and to spend summers in New Hampshire. He also loved history.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy G. (McCurdy) Graziano. He was the loving father of Christopher J. Graziano of Wakefield and John G. Graziano and his wife Megann of Peabody. He was the brother of the late Audrey Mancini and her late husband John. He was the brother-in-law of Edward McCurdy and his late wife Sophia. He was the uncle of Steve, Jack, Susan, Laurie, Nick, Lisa, Keith, Kevin and the late Michael. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 a.m.

Visitation for relatives and friends at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Interment will be private.
